Carol Kim provides therapy for children, couples, and families navigating anxiety, trauma, ADHD, relationship challenges, parenting stress, and emotional overwhelm. Her work is grounded in attachment, connection, and evidence-based care, with a focus on helping clients feel safe, supported, and understood.
With 17 years of clinical experience, Carol brings depth, warmth, and specialized training to her work with children, adolescents, couples, and families. She has extensive experience helping clients work through depression, anxiety, ADHD, domestic violence, trauma, child and adolescent concerns, and relationship struggles. Her approach is especially informed by a deep understanding of child development, nervous system regulation, attachment, and family dynamics.
Carol has advanced training in Somatic Experiencing, Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), Internal Family Systems (IFS), AutPlay for neurodiverse children, Theraplay, and Synergetic Play Therapy. She is also a Circle of Security Parenting Facilitator. These approaches allow her to support healing, emotional regulation, stronger family relationships, and deeper connection between parents and children.
In addition to her clinical work, Carol has taught and facilitated parenting and marital enhancement groups in the community. She earned her Master’s degree in Marriage and Family Therapy from Brigham Young University, where she received advanced clinical training and conducted research related to marital satisfaction.
Before dedicating herself full-time to therapy, Carol was awarded the Kaiser Fellowship and worked as a broadcast journalist for KTVU in the San Francisco Bay Area, focusing on mental health-related issues. These experiences deepened her commitment to helping individuals and families feel seen, empowered, and supported in meaningful change.
Carol is a member of the American Association for Marriage and Family Therapy and the Association for Play Therapy.
